ABSTRACT

There have been reported vast ranged solicitations of the composite materials in umpteen domains. This article has attempted to study the various performance measures while conducting ultrasonic-assisted drilling of tungsten carbide-cobalt composite. The philosophy of Taguchi is used to scheme out the experimental runs and furthermore, multi responses under the study have also been optimised through grey-based fuzzy method. The removal rate of the work material and the tool has been undertaken as the performance measures under the varying conditions of four distinct process inputs. The results obtained have analysed with variance test to observe out the influential factors. The size of the abrasive grit and the power rating reported as the most crucial inputs for the machining measures. The Buckingham-Pi approach-based mathematical modelling has also been attempted for developing the prediction model. The developed mathematical models have revealed in good consistency in terms of Square-R values.
