ABSTRACT

A simple, environmentally benign green synthesis of stable polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-capped copper nanoparticle was achieved using glucose. Characterization of PVP-capped copper nanoparticle was done using UV–visible spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. Effect of pH on the synthesis of PVP-capped copper nanoparticle was also studied. Spherical shaped copper nanoparticle of average size 200 ± 50 was obtained. PVP-capped copper nanoparticles were found to be stable for nearly 2 months. Such a stable and monodispersed copper nanoparticle can further be used in conductive printing, optical sensing, catalysis, and biosensing applications.
