This fourth and final issue of Volume 129 of Applied Earth Science sees us at the end of a tumultuous year in a number of ways, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, uncertainty (as I write this) over the US elections, conflicts in the Caucasus and Ethiopia, and other crises happening around the world. This editorial is going to be short and hopefully sweet, and I just wanted to thank all of you who have been involved with Applied Earth Science this year to ensure things have progressed smoothly despite all of the challenges we have faced. This includes those of you who have made sure papers are handled and reviewed in a timely fashion, those of you who have been reading the papers and digesting the science or have been submitting papers for review and publication, those of you behind the scenes with the publisher, Taylor & Francis, and anyone else who has contributed to the journal during the year. I will acknowledge individual efforts on the reviewing side for 2020 in the first issue of 2021, but until then I wish you all the best for the holiday season, and here’s to a better New Year. See you all in the first issue of Applied Earth Science in 2021.
