Dr Matthew Freeman is Reader in Multiplatform Media at Bath Spa University. He is Co-Director of Bath Spa’s The Centre for Media Research and acts as REF Champion for the University’s Communication, Culture and Media submission to REF 2021. His research examines cultures of production across the borders of media and history, and is the author/editor of five books: The Routledge Companion to Transmedia Studies (2018), Global Convergence Cultures: Transmedia Earth (2018), Historicising Transmedia Storytelling: Early Twentieth-Century Transmedia Story Worlds (2016), Industrial Approaches to Media: A Methodological Gateway to Industry Studies (2016) and Transmedia Archaeology: Storytelling in the Borderlines of Science Fiction, Comics and Pulp Magazines (2014). His forthcoming books include Genre/Transmedia: Rethinking Genre in a Multiplatform Culture and The World of The Walking Dead.
