Unmasking the clerical persona: Interpreting the correlation between neuroticism and lie scale scores among Roman Catholic and male and female Anglican clergy

Three samples of 1482 Roman Catholic, 1071 male Anglican and 1239 female Anglican clergy completed the short form Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. The correlations between lie scale scores and neuroticism scores revealed by the three separate samples suggests that male clergy, both Roman Catholic and Anglican, may be more inclined than female clergy to wish to project a clerical persona of integrity and stability.
