The association between intracavernous prostaglandin and urethral mucosal tissue discomfort and pain has been reported (Chen et al., 1995, Godschalk et al., 1996, Kim et al., 1997). However, this is unlikely to lead to cessation of treatment (Lehmann et al., 1999, Rowland et al., 1999). The most common adverse reaction to alprostadil is urogenital pain, reported in 47% of patients receiving ICI PGE1 but only in 7% receiving MUSE (Shokeir et al., 1999). We present two cases where the partners of patients using intra-urethral prostaglandin E 1 developed oral symptoms following fellatio.
