Coherent Light Scattering by Particles Moving in Two Crossed Light Beams

Abstract

Light scattering by small particles moving in two crossed laser beams is analysed by considering the effect of the ponderomotive force. Light is scattered by the bunched particles in particular directions (Bragg diffraction). The system is a classical analogue of a relativistic system involving scattering of light by a beam of electrons, producing very-high-frequency radiation.
