The street press

Abstract

During the 1990s, the street press movement has spread rapidly throughout the developed world. The movement is a unique social experiment which tackles the problems of homelessness through the concept of self-help. Helping homeless, ex-homeless and vulnerably accommodated people help themselves through the selling of newspapers or magazines can break dependency on state benefits, and is an alternative to begging.
