New Development of Efficient Processing Techniques on Typical Medicinal Fungi: A Review

ABSTRACT

Interest in the use of medicinal fungi for health-related purposes has been on the rise, especially during the past decade. This article presents a comprehensive review of recent developments in efficient processing technologies for selected varieties of medicinal fungi, including Cordyceps sinensis, Ganoderma lucidum, Agaricus blazei, Grifola frondosa, Phellinus linteus, Poria cocos. Processing technologies of interest include prospectives on drying, extraction, and milling. Finally, the selection of appropriate techniques for each application as well as the use of processed fungi in the industry is also given.
