Editors' note: In addition to his counseling director duties, Gary Margolis was Associate Professor of English and American Literatures (part-time) at Middlebury and the recipient of the Saint Michaels College Clinical Psychology Sam Dietzel Award for mental health practice in Vermont. His book Fire in the Orchard was nominated for the 2002 Pulitzer Prize. His new book of poems is Below the Falls (Addison Press). Dr. Margolis retired in December after 38 years of college counseling service.
