Abstract

Animal and human research is reviewed to clarify the current understanding of the safety of obstetric ultrasound. As an obligation to subjects who are volunteering to participate in research on fetal movement, a follow-up study of seven subjects who received serial ultrasound in utero is described. Results suggest that there is not effect of diagnostic ultrasound imaging on the motor development of toddlers who received ultrasound in utero.
