Abstract
St. John’s wort use continues to rapidly rise in the United States. With this, there have been increased numbers of reports documenting drug interactions when combined with St. John’s wort. Coupled with an increased awareness of St. John’s wort’s pharmacoki-netics and side effect profile, a greater understanding of its drug-herb interactions has emerged. Many drugs are now included in this list including (but not limited to), indinavir, cyclosporin, digoxin, fluoxe-tine, clozapine, warfarin, theophylline and piroxicam. This article will review known or potential drug-St. John’s wort interactions to date.
