Abstract
The highest incidence of laryngeal and prostate cancers is found among the elderly. Both tissues are androgen-sensitive and the highest risk of malignancy occurs during the period of 'andropause/androclise' when androgen levels decline. The actions of androgens in the larynx and prostate gland are described and the relationships between the concentrations of hormones and the development of these tumors are presented. The potential role of hormonal therapies for the course of the malignancies is proposed.
