Abstract
Highly sensitive and selective coated glassy carbon electrode is described that employs thymol blue (TB), an organic indicator, as modifier. The voltammetric determination of trace amounts of titanium has been studied using this thymol blue coated glassy carbon electrode (TBCGCE). Anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) was applied to study the various parameters affecting the affinity of titanium ions by the TBCGCE as well as the possible interference by other metal ions. Validation of the proposed method by an independent method, viz. atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), has been assessed; therefore, the method has been successfully applied to determine titanium in two standard reference material portland cement samples, then to portland cement and cement clinker. Various Statistical Parameters as well as the quality control chart (X-chart) have been introduced.
