Abstract

This paper presents the results of determining the contents ofpolluting metals in biological samples under test in comparisonwith the maximum admitted level. With a view tostudying the effect of pollutants on the ecological equilibrium, studies were carried out in the Copşa Mică area, an areaheavily polluted with heavy metals, suplhur and carbonoxides. A number of 186 blood samples, 68 hair samples, 46samples of organs and tissues (liver, kidneys, spleen, muscles, heart, long bone), 42 cow milk samples and 25 feeds sampleswere collected and analysed. Flame atomic absorption spectrometrywas used to determine the content of Cd, Pb, Fe, Zn and Cu in the samples analysed.
