ABSTRACT

An improved first order derivative spectrophotometric method was applied for the determination of fluconazole in syrups. The spectral interference observed in syrups was eliminated by using first derivative method. Distilled water is used as a solvent throughout the study. The chosen wavelength was 271.6 nm at first order derivative spectrum and the linear concentration range was 126.0–462.0 µg mL−1. Recovery studies shows the method is accurate and precise with 102.2% mean recovery value and 1.78 coefficient variation. Detection limit was found to be 4.53 µg mL−1.
