ABSTRACT
This review gives a short introduction in the origin, occurrence and detection of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Emphasis lies on immunochemical detection methods for PAH compounds, such as ELISA, RIA, fluoroimmunosensors, QCM immunosensors and electrochemical immunosensors, but also on immunosorbents and commercial immunoassay kits for PAHs. Possibilities and limitations of these methods compared to standard methods, such as HPLC and GC, are discussed.
