Abstract

Two variations in the optimization strategy known as the Modified Simplex Method are proposed and evaluated. The variations are based on the use of the best answer point instead of the standard procedure, which reflects the worst answer point over the centroid point. With these changes the worst answer point has less influence than in the traditional Modified Simplex Method and the Simplex progresses more rapidly to the optimum. The two new variations have been evaluated by means of mathematical functions and analytical determinations. The effects of the starting point and the size of the Simplex have also been investigated. The results show that the changes are suitable for rapid optimization.
