This is the first of two special issues to be published this year in Analytical Letters. It is devoted to long standing Editorial/Advisory Board Member, Professor Harry B. Mark Jr., who died on March 3, 2003, and is edited by Professors Malcolm Smyth of Dublin City University and William Heineman from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Harry joined the Board in 1970, shortly after the inception of the journal, and has always been one of Analytical Letters' most ardent supporters and a significant contributor to its development. I hope this special issue will ensure his remembrance as a kind and wonderful person by all who were privileged to know him.
