Pages 381-396 | Published online: 25 Nov 2002

ABSTRACT

Cost effectiveness analysis, – a method of comparing costs and outcomes, – appears to be a useful method of economic analysis, which is increasingly being applied to healthcare interventions. The basics of the method itself, and some its benefits and shortcomings are presented. Applications of the method to analysis of treatment of hyperlipidemia with statin drugs are discussed.
