Abstract

A simple expression for the surface charge density/surface potential relationship for a spherical colloidal particle with high surface potential in a solution of symmetrical electrolytes is obtained by solving the nonlinear Poisson‐Boltzmann equation using the extended Langmuir's method. The simple expression is fit for the case of high surface potential and is applicable only when ka is large. The present expression has a simple form and is useful in practice.
