Abstract
Coprecipitated CdxZn(1−x)S nanoparticles have been synthesized using the chemical capping method. Mercaptoacetic acid was used as an efficient and versatile capping agent, that can provide the nanoparticles with a hydrophilic shell and prevent their coalescence. Optical spectroscopy provided evidence that the particles were coprecipitated, and the absorption edges of those nanoparticles can be varied from blue to UV, while the emission position can be adjusted from 450 to 670 nm.
