Chiral Separation of β₂‐Blockers on Pirkle‐Type Chiral Stationary Phases

Abstract

Liquid chromatographic resolution of six racemic β₂‐blockers including bambuterol, clenbuterol, clenpropol, fumoterol, mabuterol, and terbutaline was studied on two Pirkle‐type chiral stationary phases (CSPs) such as α‐Burke‐2 and Pirkle‐1J. By varying the mobile phase compositions, five of the six β₂‐blockers were successfully resolved on α‐Burke‐2 CSP, while only two β₂‐blockers were resolved on Pirkle‐1J CSP.
