Abstract

A modified casting polyurethane/poly(styrene-co-divinyl benzene) system with good properties which can be cured at the room temperature, was prepared by a one-step process. The best formula is set down by orthogonal experiments. The influences on the reactivity as well as the main mechanical properties, including the adhesion to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastics/ethylene propylene diene mononer, have been tested and discussed. Results show that the initiator, the accelerator, the catalyst, the mole ratio of -NCO/-OH, the molar rate of hydroxyl of binary alcohol and polyols, divinyl benzene/styrene, styrene/(polyurethane + styrene) have effects on mechanical properties. The mechanism of adhesion is interpreted with conjugate interpenetrating of networks across interfaces based on the study and the report of the other researchers.
