Abstract
The effects of ultrasound on the hetero- and homo-Diels- Alder reactions have been investigated varying ultrasonic source and solvent. Irradiation enhances both reactions minimally; however, while this appears to be due to cavitation in the homo Diels-Alder reaction, mechanical mixing appears to be the cause in the hetero-Diels-Alder reaction.
