Synthesis of a Few bis-Binaphthol Derivatives

Abstract

(R)-2,2′-Dihydroxy-1,1′-binaphthol was monoprotected and then alkylated with various ditosylalkanes. Deprotection provided (R,R)-1,n-bis{2′(2-hydroxy-1,1′-binaphthyl)oxy} alkanes or bis-BINOL derivatives.
