3-Aryl-4-(6′-carbethoxy-5′-arylcyclohex-2′-enone-3′-yl)sydnones 2a–i were prepared following Robinson's annelation by grinding chalcones 1a–i and ethylacetoacetate in the presence of potassium carbonate under solvent-free conditions.
