Abstract
A new chelating ligand, 3,5‐dibenzyloxybenzoyl‐salicylaldehyde hydrazone (HL) and its five rare earth complexes, [LnL(OAc)2]·H2O [Ln = La(III), Sm(III), Eu(III), Gd(III), Tb(III)], have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductivity, thermal analyses, IR and 1H NMR spectra. A structure of the prepared complexes is suggested. Their scavenging activity on 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals has been evaluated.
