Abstract

A new unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base ligand (H2L) was synthesized using 5‐chloro‐2‐hydroxybenzophenone, o‐phenylenediamine, and salicylaldehyde. Five metal complexes of this ligand, [ML] · xH2O (M = Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Mn(II), and Co(II); x = 0–3), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV spectra, and molar conductance. Possible structures of these complexes have been proposed.
