Abstract
Octa‐carboxylate phthalocyanine Cu(II) complex, CuPc(COONa)8, and their pyridine substitutes CuPc(COONa)8(L)2 (L = Py, 4‐MePy), have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, IR, 1H NMR, and electronic spectral studies. A structure is proposed in which one Pc molecule is coordinated to a metal ion in a tetradentate fashion.
