Abstract

Using the Green function of an anisotropic medium in free space and the Green identity, the boundary integral equations for a two-dimensional homogeneous anisotropic medium are deduced. These equations are then applied to analyse the scattering problem of an open cavity filled with an anisotropic medium located in a conducting plane. To the best of our knowledge, this problem has not been dealt with in previous publications. We implement the boundary element method and generalized network formulation to solve the boundary integral equations and present some examples. The computed results are in good agreement with the one obtained by the modal matching method. This illustrates the feasibility of this scheme. Two examples of the radar cross section for an open cavity filled with an anisotropic medium are also presented.
