Gary Tomlinson

Gary Tomlinson ([email protected]) is Annenberg Professor in the Humanities and a member of the Music Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. Recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, he has taught and lectured widely on topics ranging from opera to jazz, from early-modern European music to Aztec and Inca song, and from cultural theory to historiography. His latest books, published in 2007, are Music and Historical Critique: Selected Essays and The Singing of the New World: Indigenous Voice in the Era of European Contact. In 2008 he will present the Wort Lectures at the University of Cambridge.
