Joan M. Jensen, Professor of History, teaches women's history at New Mexico State University and specializes in rural history. She has published With These Hands: Women Working the Land (1981); Loosening the Bonds: Mid-Atlantic Farm Women, 1750-1850 (1986); and Promise to the Land: Essays on Rural Women (in press). She is currently researching women on the Wisconsin frontier from 1850-1920.
