Knox Mellon

Knox Mellon is a former treasurer of the Oral History Association (1967-1975). He is currently State Historic Preservation Officer for California and Executive Secretary of the State Historical Resources Commission. From 1960 to 1975 he was Professor of History and Director of the Oral History Program at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles.

An earlier version of this paper was presented as the keynote address at the plenary session of the Fifteenth Annual Oral History Association Colloquium, Durango, Colorado, October 3, 1980.
