SOLAR INFLUENCE ON MEAN ANNUAL PRECIPITATION

Pages 25-33 | Published online: 15 Mar 2010

Computer maps of the association between annual precipitation and the solar cycle illustrate strong regional response, supporting the notion of rhythmic changes in circulation concomitant with the elevenyear sun cycle. The strength and sign of correlation coefficients between annual precipitation and sunspot frequency indicate that the solar-terrestrial relationship may be a function of geographical location and solar amplitude.
