Abstract

ABSTRACT: The National Health and Medical Research Council (1982) specifically omitted the only test of oculomotor coordination which was in the first edition of the Occupational Health Guide:— Visual Display Units. This report considers the basis for this exclusion, analyses and discusses data from a study of VDU operators on the usefulness of such a test and discusses other possible tests. It is concluded that the investigation of oculomotor balance does play a role in the screening of VDU operators but that the test recommended by the NH & MRC (Maddox Wing Test) is not the most suitable.
