The Responsibility of Geography

Abstract

Geographers have a six-fold responsibility: to truth and scientific integrity; to the discipline of geography, a body of knowledge and a corps of people; to the physical environment; to our communities; to our society; and to humanity. Those responsibilities are difficult to keep, and the attempt to do so may engender personal and disciplinary conflicts.
