Transparent lateral boundary conditions for baroclinic waves III. Including vertical shear

Abstract

The problem of how to adapt the so-called transparent boundary conditions to the physical reality that the horizontal advection velocity varies in the vertical, is addressed. A practical demonstration is presented of the transparency of the resulting ‘shear’ boundary conditions.
