The JISC TechDis service has announced a series of workshops aimed at a variety of staff in Institutions. They include a range of issues including web accessibility, accessibility features of Microsoft products, how to subtitle streamed video and accessibility of Virtual Learning Environments. All of the workshops are free to staff working in education, details available from www.techdis.ac.uk/workshops/
Additionally, TechDis will be holding a one-day workshop on the use of Personal Digital Assistants and the issues that arise for disabled students. Emphasis will be placed on how PDAs can benefit students, but issues of usability and accessibility will also be covered. The workshop will also report on how the Internet, VLEs and other technologies can be accessed using PDAs. This PDA workshop will take place in April 2003 and will cost around £250 - included in the price will be an entry-level PDA.
