Synthesis and characterization of immobilized dendritic silica surfaces

Pages 67-77 | Published online: 02 Apr 2012

Abstract

A dendritic family of isocyanate monomers containing t-butyl esters has been synthesized and characterized. Treatment of free terminal amino groups immobilized on an activated glass with these reagents afforded a surface coating that instilled the tree-like properties of these dendrons to the surface. The amount of branched reagent bound to the silica was determined to be between 0.07 and 0.68 mmol/g.
