Log-Periodic Dipole Array Optimization

Abstract

The element lengths, spacings and radii of log-periodic dipole arrays (LPDA) are optimized with a genetic algorithm (GA), Nelder-Mead downhill simplex optimization method, and GA & Nelder-Mead hybrid method. The design results of the three methods linked with NEC are compared. The gain and VSWR are superior to current commercial designs.
