Backward Scattering Theorem Applying To a Perfectly Conducting Sphere

Pages 597-609 | Published online: 03 Apr 2012

Abstract

In this paper we first verify the law of conservation of power for the scattering of a linearly polarized plane wave by a conducting sphere. Subsequently, we show that the application of the backward scattering theorem to the problem yields the same answer for the excitation power based on the surface integral involving the incident wave and the scattered magnetic field on the surface of the sphere.
