Abstract
A two dimensional model of forest based on a full wave approach is developed to describe the interaction between a finite number of rows of trees and a VHF plane wave (20 MHz to 90MHz). The trees are placed on a ground represented by a lossy medium. All interactions between the incident wave and the trees are taken into account to determine the scattered electric field. The evolution of the latter with respect to the geometrical parameters of the scene is analyzed, and the results are compared with those retrieved from a simple interferometric model. The case of an object hidden by the trees is also considered in view of detection applications.
