SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL ROTATION OF THE POLARIZATION PLANE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES REFLECTED FROM AND TRANSMITTED THROUGH A GYROTROPIC PLATE

Pages 1131-1137 | Published online: 03 Apr 2012

Abstract

Plane-polarized electromagnetic waves reflected from and transmitted through a plane-parallel gyrotropic plate, reveal conventional spatial and unusual temporal rotation of the polarization plane. The calculations take into account reflection coefficients on the interfaces of the plate with surrounding media. The case of the wavelength for which the plate is absolutely transparent, has been analyzed in detail.
