Blockage Minimization in Symmetric Dual-Reflector Antennas for Different Edge Taper Values

Pages 505-514 | Published online: 03 Apr 2012

Abstract

A new scheme in designing symmetric dual-reflector antennas is presented in this work. The main purpose in the design is to suppress blockage without any substantial variations in the configuration of these antennas. Some modifications in the subreflector antenna structure using a lens antenna are made to minimize blockage. A comparison is made between the new design and the conventional Cassegrain using various feed patterns. Simulation results verify the increase in efficiency of the structure.
