Screen Filter Design Considerations for Plasma Display Panels (PDP) to Achieve a High Brightness with a Minimal Loss of EMI Shielding Effectiveness

Abstract

For a PDP, a screen filter is used to reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the front panel while providing a large enough opening aperture to ensure the desired brightness of the panel. In this paper, several designs of the mesh-type screen filters are analyzed and compared for their near-field shielding effectiveness (SE), and an optimal design of the screen filter to achieve the highest brightness with a minimal loss in SE is suggested.
