Abstract
In this paper a novel band-notched microstrip slot antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) communication is presented. The antenna is comprised of elliptical stub that excite similar-shaped slot aperture and the H-shaped slot is filled in the elliptical stub. The proposed antenna is fabricated to work on a substrate RT/duroid 6006 that has a thickness of 1.27 mm and relative permittivity (εr ) of 6.15, and to operate in UWB band released by FCC in 2002 (i.e., 3.1–10.6 GHz). To reject the frequency band of 5.15–5.825 GHz, this is limited by IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2. The size of the antenna is 50 × 50 mm2 and the experimental results are in relatively good agreement with the analysis. Effects of varying the parameters of the H-shaped slot on the performance of the antenna have also been studied.
