Abstract
The design of a single-layer broadband gap-coupled microstrip antenna, loaded by a parasitic element, is reported here. The antenna can be operated in the frequency range of 6.4 GHz–10 GHz with a bandwidth of 3.6 GHz which is 44% of the centre frequency. The simulated results using IE3D software, are verified by measurement. The antenna may be useful for the application in ultrawideband (UWB) communication technology.
