Abstract

Carrier density in the quantum structure has been estimated through the self-consistent solutions of Schrödinger-Poisson equations. Our analysis reveals reduction in the peak optical gain with the blue shift in ZnO/MgZnO quantum well laser. Therefore, the highest value of peak optical gain 4125 (cm–1) has been obtained for ultra-violet wavelength of 377 nanometer. The peak values of spontaneous emission was found to be increasing from 4078 to 4332 (a.u.) with decrease in wavelength. Near field was achieved maximum at the center of the quantum well in the device for different wavelengths using effective index method.
