Abstract

The stability of the formulation of flanged open-ended coaxial probe for the measurement of electromagnetic properties of finite thickness sheets is studied. Formulation characterizing property of stability of the formulation is derived, based on which the behavior of condition number of the formulation is estimated. It shows that the stability of the formulation is related to frequency, and in particular, the computation of permeability is of an ill-conditioned problem at low frequency. Numerical experiments have been conducted to verify the analysis.
